WAVE OF LIGHT

Join the global “Wave of Light”

Every year, there is an occasion called Wave of Light to honour and remember babies who have passed away during pregnancy, childbirth, or infancy. For those who have lost a child, this day acts as a worldwide moment of remembrance for families and individuals. Candles are lit by people all over the world, creating a wave of light that represents love, support, and remembering these priceless lives. With Global Wave of Light, we have the chance to break the taboo around this frequently intensely personal and emotional event, offer consolation, and increase awareness about pregnancy and baby loss.

To join the global ‘Wave of Light’, simply light a candle at 7pm local time on 15 October and leave it burning for at least one hour. This can be done individually or in a group, at home or in a communal space. Wherever you do this, you will be joining a global ‘Wave of Light’ in memory of all the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.

Post a photo of your candle to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag using #WaveOfLight.

It meant so very much to us both to be able to take part in the Wave of Light, it helped my husband to express his feelings and well, to just have a good cry. It was the first time he has cried since the day we found out we had lost the baby, so it was well needed.
